The short answer
Buy it if you carry your scooter up stairs, onto trains or into a car regularly, and your route is broadly flat. Skip it if your route has real gradients, or you never lift the scooter at all.
The lightest genuinely usable commuter we found data for — 26.4 lb, and it still measured 24.2 miles.

The weight is the product
At an independently measured 26.4 lb (eRideHero, Sep 2026), the KQi Air is the only scooter in our registry that sits in the one-hand-carry band described in our weight guide. The next lightest with usable range is the GoTrax G4 at 37.4 lb — 42% heavier.
That matters because weight is the only spec that costs you something at the end of every single ride. Range only matters on the days you run low; weight matters at every doorway, every curb and every flight of stairs.
24.2 measured miles is the surprising part
Light scooters are usually light because they have a small battery, and the range figure gives it away. The KQi Air does not follow that rule: 24.2 miles measured (eRideHero, Sep 2026) is more than the Segway Ninebot E3 Pro, more than the GoTrax G4, and within striking distance of scooters weighing twice as much.
Divided out, that is 0.92 measured miles of real range per pound. The next best figure in our whole registry is the VMAX VX2 Pro GT at 0.87, and most scooters sit between 0.35 and 0.55. This is the number that justifies the price.
350 W is the compromise
The KQi Air’s 350 W motor is the weakest of any scooter we recommend. Engineering guidance puts 500 W as the threshold for 5-10% grades with a typical adult aboard (Hiboy, Sep 2026), which places this below the line — and rider weight shifts it further, since a heavier rider should add three to five percentage points to their gradient requirement (Levy Electric, Sep 2026).
On a flat city route you will never notice. On a hilly one you will notice daily. If your commute has a sustained climb, the hills round-up is the more useful page.
IP55 covers dust as well as rain
IP55 is a genuinely good rating for a commuter: the first digit covers dust ingress and the second covers low-pressure water jets, which is what road spray at 20 mph actually is (Electric Scooter Guide, Sep 2026). Most scooters publish either nothing or an IPX rating with the dust digit untested.
