The short version

Kick & Volt earns a commission when you buy something through a link on this site. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same whether you arrive through us or type the retailer into your browser. It does not change what we recommend or how we rank it.

Kick & Volt is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

The Associates tracking ID used on this site is mmg-kickvolt-20, and it is operated by Magoo Media Group. Every product link here goes to Amazon and carries that tag.

Amazon is currently the only retailer we earn from. We are not enrolled in any other affiliate program, and no other merchant link on this site earns us anything.

How the links work

Product links route through a redirect on this domain (a /go/ address) before reaching the retailer. That exists so a destination can be updated in one place rather than edited across dozens of pages — it is a maintenance convenience, not a tracking mechanism. The redirect pages are excluded from search engines.

Every earning link carries rel="sponsored nofollow" and opens in a new tab. Links to the publications whose measurements we cite are ordinary followed links and earn us nothing. Nofollowing the people whose data this whole site depends on would be both ungenerous and dishonest.

Prices

We do not publish live prices. Every buy button on this site reads “Check price on Amazon” rather than showing a figure, because we have no live price feed and a stale number is worse than none.

Where a price appears in the text — “a listed $699” — it is what a dated source showed when we read that page, labeled as such. It is not the current price and should not be treated as one. Prices in this category move a great deal.

Why commission does not affect rankings

Because the ordering is not a judgment call. Every list on this site is ordered by the scoring rubric published in full on our methodology page, applied to independently measured specifications. You can apply the formulas yourself and check that the order comes out the same.

The practical evidence is easier to check than the promise: on several pages here the product ranked first is the cheapest one listed, which is also the one that pays us least.

There is a second, quieter reason. This site’s entire proposition is that its numbers can be verified. If we tilted a ranking toward commission, the thing we would be destroying is the only asset we have.
